Patient and Nurse

Africa spends about $1 billion annually on medical services outside the continent. This outflow is principally attributed to a pervasive distrust in the domestic healthcare systems, precipitated by inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and subpar regulation. The continent is also struggling with the problem of qualified healthcare workforce, as evidenced by the World Health Organization's report that 40 out of the 55 countries facing critical health staffing shortages are in Africa. This alarming shortage is further compounded by a host of challenges, including high emigration rates of healthcare professionals seeking better opportunities abroad.

The consequences of this crisis are profound. With a significant portion of experienced healthcare practitioners leaving the continent, the remaining workforce often comprises less experienced professionals who may struggle with providing proper patient care. This gap in expertise is exacerbated by the lack of sufficient mentorship and training opportunities, hindering the development of clinical skills that are essential for high-quality patient care.

To address these pressing challenges, Carmensa Health was founded as a pioneering health tech division of Trillion Cells. Our mission is to develop solutions that augment the decision-making process of clinicians and ultimately improve patient outcomes across resource-limited regions in Africa.
